Scott Stewart Triumphs for Eighth Time in $30,000 WCHR Professional Finals at2024 Capital Challenge Horse Show
Two highlight events were held on Friday, October 4, 2024, at the Capital Challenge Horse Show, which runs at the Prince George’s Equestrian Center through Sunday, October 6. The evening competition featured the top four hunter riders in the country going head-to-head in the $30,000 World Championship Hunter Rider (WCHR) Professional Finals, presented by Walkenbach Equestrian, and it was Scott Stewart who triumphed by riding four unfamiliar horses, taking home his eighth win out of 23 appearances in the 31 years of the class. In the Ariat National Adult Medal Finals, Elizabeth Cram of Aiken, SC, held her first-round lead for victory aboard Liverno, owned by Highfields LLC.
Kate Conover Completes a Dream By Winning $25,000 WCHR Professional Finals at 2023 Capital Challenge Horse Show
On Friday, October 6, at the 2023 Capital Challenge Horse Show at the Prince George’s Equestrian Center in Upper Marlboro, MD, Kate Conover made her dream come true by winning the $25,000 World Championship Hunter Rider (WCHR) Professional Finals, sponsored by The Rein Family. Conover took home the win by completing a stellar handy round in the Playoffs, then staying incredibly consistent and holding the lead with four unfamiliar horses in The Final Four.

THIS National Children’s Medal and Ariat National Adult Medal Suspend Qualifying Classes
Upper Marlboro, MD – March 17, 2020 – Capital Challenge Horse Show (CCHS) and Ryegate Show Services announce that effective immediately and with the guidance of US Equestrian (USEF), qualifying for Taylor Harris Insurance Services (THIS) National Children’s Medal and Ariat National Adult Medal classes is suspended for any horse shows held in the next 30 days.
Liza Boyd Claims WCHR Pro Finals Victory at Capital Challenge
Upper Marlboro, MD – Professional hunter competition concluded on Friday, October 6, at the Capital Challenge Horse Show, presented by World Equestrian Center, with the heralded $5,000 World Championship Hunter Rider (WCHR) Professional Finals. The top six professional hunter riders in the country went head-to-head over three rounds, before Liza Boyd of Camden, SC, emerged victorious. Capital Challenge continues at the Prince George’s Equestrian Center in Upper Marlboro, MD, through Sunday, October 8.
Allison Joyce Earns First Major Finals Win in Ariat Adult Medal
As a highlight of the Capital Challenge Horse Show (CCHS) each year, the WCHR Professional Finals crowned a veteran champion in 2015, as Scott Stewart of Wellington, FL, took the top prize in the $5,000 WCHR Pro Finals presented by the show’s title sponsor, Well Placed Smile, for the sixth time in his career. Stewart earned the prestigious top prize in the final round aboard Reality, owned by Alexa Weisman, with a final sore of 271.99. The Capital Challenge Horse Show will continue with hunter and jumper competition through Sunday, October 4, at Prince George’s Equestrian Center.
Liza Boyd Wins Her First WCHR Professional Finals
Professional riders gain points all year in order to be the top six in the country and qualify for the WCHR Professional Finals, sponsored by the John R. Ingram Fund, at the Capital Challenge Horse Show. This year, the top six were Liza Boyd, Kelley Farmer, John French, Peter Pletcher, Amanda Steege, and Scott Stewart, and it was Liza Boyd who finished the competition with top honors. In the afternoon session, Haleigh Landrigan was awarded as the winner of the ARIAT National Adult Medal Finals sponsored by ARIAT International. The Capital Challenge Horse Show, held at the Prince George's Equestrian Center, will run through Sunday, October 6.
